The Irish American Movie Hooley Film Festival
Over the past summer, Mike Houlihan of the Irish Echo, Hibernian Media, and probably many of Chicago’s watering holes invited me to help out at the 10th “Irish American Movie Hooley, a film festival ran by him and his two sons seeking to highlight Irish filmmaking in the Irish diaspora of the USA.
That year was an especially big one, featuring the films Sins of Ireland,” a survey of Catholic priests and the confessional (with director Alex Fegan in attendance) the massively successful “Kneecap,” (including an appearance by actor Jessica Reynolds from the film) and the documentary “Stories I Didn’t Know” from American filmmaker Rita Davern.
Getting to meet the film and crew from these movies and work with Houlis was a massive treat, and by all accounts the festival was a massive success.
